Benefit thief gets away with curfew order

Carol Jackson from Thatto Heath pleaded guilty at St Helens Magistrates' Court to failing to declare to the authorities earnings from a second job, which she knew would affect her entitlement to Housing and Council Tax Benefit. It resulted in an overpayment of £5,611.

Her movement will be restricted for two weeks under the terms of the curfew order and she was ordered to pay back the full amount. She must also foot the bill for £80 legal costs.
